Nurse Practitioner
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides professional nursing care through the application of nursing skills and process to assigned patients. The incumbent provides direct patient care and works with others as a team member to achieve optimal patient care.
This position has access to confidential information and direct patient care responsibilities. This position has the authority to make independent decisions in collaboration with the physician(s) within scope of practice and within guidelines of Standard Care Arrangement.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing health promotion, prevention, and treatments to patients
- Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and injuries
- Prescribing medications when needed to ensure patient health and well-being
- Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses and provide treatment
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
- Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Dictate and document all patient interactions
- Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
