Duke Dean visits Japan on Houston Mission
Central United Methodist Church in Concord will host the Houston Evangelism Mission with Duke Divinity Dean on Sunday, September 17th.
Dr. Edgardo Colon Emerick will be speaking at Central UMC. The church will hold a joint Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., one service at 10:30 p.m., followed by a congregational meal at 11:30 a.m.
Colon Emerick is Dean, Eileen and William McCutchen Professor of Reconciliation and Theology, and Director of the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School. His work explores the intersections of Methodist and Catholic theology and Wesleyan and Latin American experiences.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he was the first Latino to be ordained an elder in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and was the founding pastor of Cristo Vibe United Methodist Church in Durham.

In 1948, Dr. William Silas and Mrs. Nina Huston established a continuance fund to bring excellence in preaching and teaching to Central.
For 75 years, their gifts have continued to fund the Houston Mission. Colon Emerick’s visit will be the first of two speakers this year. Dr. Luke Powery, also of Duke Divinity, is scheduled to preach at Central on February 25th.
Bulb market: fresh produce, etc.
The Grace Lutheran Church Bulb Market is held every Friday from 3pm to 4pm, selling fresh produce to the community.
Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Center provides primary care and basic health screenings on-site at the church on the second Friday of each month. Grace Lutheran is located at 58 Chestnut Drive in Concord.
Revelation Fitness will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Mondays this summer from 6-7 p.m.
Led by Revelation Wellness Certified Instructors Stephanie Flowe and Rebecca Hoover, Revelation Fitness combines Tabata, drumstick cardio, circuit work and God’s Word to create an atmosphere of acceptance and community, moving your body with joy rather than perfection.
All fitness levels are welcome, ages 10 and up. Please bring water, hand weights, drumsticks, and mats (all available if needed). There is no cost, but donations are accepted to the Grace Lutheran Church Health Ministry.

homecoming and resurrection
Pastor Richie Honeycutt will preach at Franklin Heights Baptist Church’s Homecoming and Revival. The church is located at 526 Wright Road in Kannapolis.
Homecoming will be held on Sunday, October 15th at 10:30am. A meal will be held after the service.
The revival will begin with an additional meeting on Sunday at 6 p.m. and continue from Monday, Oct. 16 to Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
Hot dog meals are also available on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m.
