Bella Padilla has expressed her grief after confirming that her British father, Cornelio Sullivan, died in his sleep on Sunday night, August 27.
Fresh off of attending the wedding of her friend and fellow actress Rovi Poe in England, she reflected on her Instagram page on Monday (August 28) that life has been “a series of ups and downs”.
“Our father passed away last night in his sleep. This is my only consolation. I hope he was in no pain and dreaming of a happier time in his life.” wrote Padilla.
Padilla recalled her memories with Sullivan, saying how deeply he loved his children and “lived life to the fullest possible”. She further revealed that her love for diving began when her father taught her how to swim and “fearlessness” at an early age.
“His ability to recognize a problem and think of some solutions before reacting is something I try to practice. He never accepts an answer of no when he believes something is right. I tried to make sure everyone understood what ‘right’ was,” she said.
“He was very empathetic, but it was still insanely funny. And he gave me the best hug and never let go first,” she added. “I always wish I had one more day, but it would be unfair. For now, and until paradise comes, the memories will overtake us.”
Fans and celebrities including Ann Curtis, Kylie Berzosa, Sharon Cuneta and Von Navarro shared their condolences with Padilla through the comments section.
In 2019, after being informed that her father was in intensive care, Padilla flew to Thailand, where Sullivan was based. Her actress did not immediately disclose her own condition at the time. /La
